If you really listen to Perkins music you can hear the subtle melancholy tone in what at first seems to be happy. What causes this type of duplicity? Probably dealing with a lot of unfortunate events in his life, i.e. his father passed from AIDS in 1992 and his mother being on board one of the planes that flew into the World Trade Center on September 11th. It's amazing that such great music can come from such a unfortunate past. As the saying goes, 'when life hands you lemons make music that sounds really good and stuff'.
